Looking to Spice up your October Riding?
Be part of the Washington County Ride Series; a 30-34 mile ride every Thursday in October, starting at 1:00 pm. C Pace, cue sheets, regrouping, no SAG.
Each ride is a loop so potentially shortening your route is an option with some planning ahead.
This first ride is called the South Mountain - Sharpsburg Tour. It begins in the historic town of Boonsboro, then heads south for a climb up South Mountain to the War Correspondents' Arch at Gathland State Park. You then travel back up the valley to the town of Keedysville, then on to Sharpsburg and the Antietam National Battlefiled, site of the bloodiest day of the Civil War. After leaving the battlefield, you will pass the University of Maryland Experimental Farm and the Washington County Agricultural Education Center and Rural Heritage Museum.
These rides are taken from the brochure called, "Bicycle Tours Washington County, Maryland. They are made available to the public through Hagerstown - Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
